Sand Tray Therapy
Background: Dora Kalff, Jungian therapist, developed sandplay therapy in Switzerland in the 1950s and '60s based on her studies at the C.G. Jung Institute, Zurich, in Tibetan Buddhism, and with Margaret Lowenfeld, in England.
‘Sand Tray’ is a tool to assist individuals with change. Sand tray gives us the opportunity to uncover fears and patterns set deep within. It presents us with a picture of our internal world and allows us the opportunity to make changes.
Sand tray is creative and facilitates play for individuals of all ages. It creates possibilities, by means of figures and the arrangement of the sand, to set up a world corresponding to our inner state. Through play a link is established between our internal and external worlds. Working with children, individuals, couples and groups with symbol and sand play.
